1ºESO. COLOUR RANGE DRAWING

HELLO EVERYBODY!!!

We are going to continue with the study of colour by doing a coloured drawing, using a range.
Take a look first to this slides made by the teacher Marga, and read closely. It is a good review of the colour theory we have talk about.

Which are the primary colours?
Which are the secondary colours?
What are the warm colours or cool colours?
What are complementary colours?

What is a range of colours? A range of colours is a group of colours that have some relationship among them. For now, we are going to work in a drawing, using a temperature range.
This are two ranges (two groups) of colours that we perceive as warm colours or cool colours:

So. This is the last project you have to do:

TEMPERATURE RANGE DRAWING

  • In a A4 drawing paper.
  • A free landscape (paisaje) ususing only the coloured pencils.
  • Use the techniques we have learnt about mixing colours, gradations, solid colours, hatching, cross- hatching...etc
  • Use one of these two ranges: warm or cool. This means that your landscape must have only warm colours or cool colours, but no both!

Pablo Picasso. (cool colours)

Paul Klee (warm colours)

This is our last project of the year, please take it carefully and do it beautiful!

  2. Hello Javier.
It depends.... Lets say they are neutral.
What do you feel more warm, white or black....
It is not important. It is going to depend on the colours that are next to them. If all the colours around are really cool, then black might be perceive as a warm colour, but can happend all the way around. It might look cool if the colours that surround it are really warm!
