2ºESO. SHADING (The light II)
Hello everybody!!!
I hope you are doing fine.
Now that we have been practicing with the soft pencil, and the black pens, we hare going to start drawing in black and white, taking care of the different shadows and lights.
The last work we did was a grey scale, or gradation, and in this new project we are going to use all the things we learnt doing that scale. It would be a really good idea to have the gradation project around, while you work in this new drawing, to check all the different greys you are able to do!
Here is the link for the last project we did, the gradation. In case you need to refresh your memory:

This time, you are not going to do a free drawing. I am going to give you a black and white photo of an animal, and you are going to copy it on a drawing paper, using the material and the technique you find yourself more confortable with. Those would be; Black pen or thin-liner for hatching and cross-hatching, or if you prefer, a 3B pencil for smugdging.

And in here you can see the 7 photos without the grid, so you can see them better for working later in your shading, or at the begining to choose the one you´d like to do.

That is all.
Do it as good as posible and take your time.

BLACK AND WHITE ANIMAL DRAWING
This are the rules and steps to follow:
- Use an A4 drawing paper
- You can chouse one of these two techniques:
- Black pen or thin-liner ( for doing hatching and cross-hatching) or a soft pencil 3B or higher ( for doing smudging).
- Choose one of the 7 photos I am going to offer you later.
- Make a grid as large as you can in your A4 drawing paper. Use your square set rulers
- Draw the animal with a regular pencil, and erase the grid.
- Shade all the drawing paying attencion and observing all the different greys you can see in the photo.
What´s a grid? Why do we use one?
(Cuadrícula) It is done by horizontal lines, and vertical lines, forming squares.
We use it because dividing the image we are going to copy into squares, as we do in our drawing paper, makes it easier to copy the image square by little square. We will be able to draw each part of the image in the right place and ay its right size.
It is easier, than copying the photo directly.

Here it´s a video in where it is explain how to do a grid:
In this case I am going to give you the photo with the grid allready done. I understand not everybody has a printer. I don´t!
In this link you can see the 7 animal photos with the grid done, from where you need to choose one:
